Day Nineteen

Another friend posts a picture of her newborn baby, that old friend from college just got engaged, you hear that another family member graduated with an exciting degree, look that person just got a promotion at work, so and so just traveled to Europe?? Sound familiar?

Yes, we live in a day and age where social media instantaneously keeps us updated, but regardless if you feel like you are constantly being bombarded with news; if it glorifies God- choose to celebrate it! Don't complain that you don't have what they've got- instead, join in with them and be part of the celebration. Just because you aren't currently in the same exact season as them, doesn't mean you can't be genuinely excited for them!

"But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." Hebrews 3:13

Come along side them, be supportive, be generous- provide the needs of that season, be there in the midst to cheer them on. If you haven't figured this out already, this life is not about us- it's about God being glorified. Social media tends to show the highlight reel of peoples lives and we can feel like something is wrong with us if we aren't experiencing constant gratification from ongoing exciting life experiences.

When we are satisfied in Christ first we can walk uprightly through any season we are experiencing, all while celebrating the good gifts the Lord graciously gives us and the people around us. Let us be reminded that we aren't owed anything, the cross alone is the greatest gift that could ever be given. The extras that we may or may not receive are simply add ons to the ultimate prize we have already been given- Christ Himself.
