Day Four

Audrey Assad recently came out with a new album and the track that I've favored the most is titled "Drawn to You". Its such a beautiful song of worship. The lyrics that have really resonated with me are:

"After everything I've had
After everything I've lost
Lord, I know this much is true
I'm still drawn to you."

In life there may be several things we hope and pray for... family, friends, career, finances, health, etc. In today's world, what I can promise you is that these things will be given and they will be taken away. How reassuring it is that no matter what we face, for those that are in Christ, nothing can separate us from Him (Romans 8:38-39). Our true treasure- the only place where we will find our desires met is in Christ Himself. We were created to enjoy Him and our hearts long for Him. He is our refuge and hope in all seasons. No matter what season we face, we can find ourselves deeply satisfied when we draw close to the Lord.

"For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things." -Psalm 107:9

It is so refreshing to be reminded that as we draw near to the Lord, He will draw near to us and satisfy us (James 4:8). We can give thanks even in the times where we suffer, as they may position us to cling onto Christ, finding our hope and comfort fulfilled in Him.

At the end of the day, these things that we may gain or lose will never scale in comparison to how great and beautiful Christ is. Our hearts will search to be satisfied and will be let down every time until they are satisfied in Christ. As St. Augustine once said, "Our heart is restless until it rests in you."
